The Istituto per lo Studio dei Materiali Nanostrutturati (ISMN) belongs to the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) that is the largest Italian research organisation.

The main aims of the ISMN are the development of innovation in the field of materials and relative technologies, their valorisation both at national and international level with the aim of transferring the most important scientific results to the socio-economic context.

The ISMN staff is composed of researchers, technologist, academics (University Professors), technicians and administratives, for a total of more than 100 people, working in the Divisions of Roma, (Roma 1, Roma 2, Montelibretti), Bologna and Palermo.

In the ISMN Division of Montelibretti (Research Area of Roma), the activity co-ordinated by Dr. Ingo is devoted to the microchemical characterisation of innovative materials and its relationship with the final properties as well as to the identification of chemical and physical degradation phenomena of ancient ceramics and metals.
This objective is reached by means of the combined use of different surface and bulk analytical techniques such as XRD, AFM, GDOES, SA-XPS, SAM, SIMS, ICP-MS, OM, SEM+EDS, FEG-SEM-EDS, DTA-TG and further, chemical laboratories and metal alloys production facilities.
